Paracanthonchus brevicaudatus sp. n., found in artificial reservoirs used for cultivation of shrimps in North Vietnam, is described and illustrated. P. brevicaudatus sp. n. is close to P. filipjevi Micoletzky, 1924, P. nannodontus (Schulz, 1932), P. tumepapillatus Timm, 1957 and P. mamubrae Miljutina & Miljutin, 2015 in the presence of three tubular precloacal supplements in males, but differs from all these species in the presence of two free gubernaculi, not arising together, and of distal ends and sizes of spicules and gubernaculum
