Daptonema salinae Sp. n. (Nematoda, Monhysterida) from highly mineralized rivers of Lake EI'ton basin, Russia
A new species of free-living nematode, Daptonema salinae sp. n., found in the sediments of highly
mineralized rivers of Lake El'ton basin (Russia), is described and illustrated. D. salinae sp. n. is similar in the structure
of the spicular apparatus to D. aquaedulcis (Gagarin, 1987) and D. vicinus (Riemann, 1966). From both the species it
differs in the shorter body (L = 715-897 11m versus L = 1400-1650 11m in D. aquaedulcis and L = 1160-1220 11m in
D. vicinus), absence of somatic setae and length of spicules (41-42 11m long versus 67 11m long in D. aquaedulcis and
34.0-37.5 11m long in D. vicinus).
